Why Prepare at The Tutor Studio?
1. Real SAT Questions
The most unique thing about our program is that we use real SAT questions and materials from College Board, not simulations. Students are given their own copies of College Board's publications and each of our lessons navigates through these actual SAT tests topic by topic. By the time students complete our course, they will have taken the SAT about 12 times already.
2. Small Classes
Our groups are limited to a maximum of 8 students (most groups are actually 6 or less). This means tailored lessons and time for questions.
3. Complete Course
Our course offers a review of each subject (Writing, Critical Reading, and Math) as well as test taking strategies specific to the SAT. In addition to real SAT questions, students work on vocabulary, reading passages, essay writing, and math drills every week.
4. 150 Points or Bust
As with many other companies, we offer a 150 point increase guarantee based on your actual PSAT and SAT scored so long as you attend your classes and do your homework.
5. Lots of Time Together
In addition to over 20 hours of in-class time, students attend 2 or more vocabulary bingo nights and 1 or more real, full-length practice tests in our office.
6. The Team You Already Trust
For students who use us for tutoring during the school year, you already know that we're the best, brightest, and most experienced teachers around.
PSAT, SAT, or 75 minute mini-SAT placement test must be taken
One on One SAT Preparation
The same materials and course outline are used as the course described above, but all instruction is one on one. Includes 20 one-on-one hours for the complete course, 12 hours for verbal only, or 10 hours for math only. Course Fee $1299 for complete course, $749 for verbal only, and $599 for math only.
Our Guarantee
If your overall score does not improve 150 points (out of a possible 2400), we invite you to take the course again for free. Score increases are based on actual SAT scores, PSAT scores, or official SAT mini-test taken before course and actual SAT scores taken after course completion. Students must attend all sessions, including 2 vocabulary nights and two practice tests (you may schedule make-ups with another group if one is available) and complete 90% of homework assignments for the offer to be valid.
SAT Information (from College Board)
Seniors can take the SAT as late as the December 2nd exam date and the scores will arrive in time for colleges to review them along with their applications (usually due in November). Scores are reported as early as 3 weeks after the exam date.
"Most students take the SAT at national administrations during their junior or senior year in high school. Often, a student takes the SAT as a junior during the spring and retests in the fall. However, there are no age or grade restrictions for taking the test." - College Board
Students are also encouraged to take the exam more than once, since only the highest scores are usually considered by colleges (including the UC and Cal State systems).
"Your score report is cumulative, meaning it contains your most recent score plus scores from up to six SAT and six Subject Test administrations. Most colleges only look at your highest scores." - College Board
